In the Dominican Republic and in large parts of the Caribbean, for example, lionfish are heavily hunted because they have no natural enemies. They are considered an invasive species that only eats juvenile fish, causing serious damage to the ecosystem. In your deep dive training, you have already learned about the SSI air/EAN tables and know that increasing your planned dive depth automatically decreases your bottom time if you don't want to face mandatory decompression.

By using nitrox you can increase your allowable bottom time as long as you don't exceed the maximum operating depth for the gas mix, but even the best nitrox mix offers relatively short bottom times on deeper dives.
